Brown Butter Banana Bread French Toast
Why use bread when you can use banana bread?!
If you’ve made my brown butter banana bread, you know how good it is. I decided to go way over the top and use it to make French toast. Oh, my goodness, I don’t have many words to describe the experience of this recipe. It’s outrageous and so special. If you want to impress someone with brunch, make them this. They’ll love you forever.
Ingredients:
1 loaf of Brown Butter Banana Bread (see recipe)
2 Cups Milk
2 Large Eggs, Lightly Beaten
2 ½ Tsp Vanilla Extract
½ Tsp Ground Nutmeg
¼ Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/3 Cup Granulated Sugar
¼ Tsp Salt
2 Tbs Heavy Cream (optional)
Directions:
1. In a bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients. Slice the banana bread loaf into 8 slices. Preheat a griddle to 350 Degrees F (180C) or heat a large skillet over medium heat with about 2 Tbs unsalted butter in it.
2. Carefully dip each side of the slices in the milk mixture, only soaking for about 2 seconds on each side.
3. Once the banana bread is soaked and your cooking surface is hot, cook the banana bread for about 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Top with maple syrup and enjoy immediately.
